Acupressure Points to Calm and Settle Energy

When energy feels anxious, restless, or overstimulated, acupressure can help calm the nervous system and bring the body back into balance.

Gentle pressure on specific acupuncture points encourages Qi to settle downward, slows the stress response, and supports emotional regulation.

Here are three commonly used points that are safe and effective for home use:

Shenmen - Spirit Gate (Acu Point Heart 7)

Use for: anxiety, restlessness, poor sleep.

How to find it: On the inner wrist crease, in line with the little finger, just to the thumb side of the tendon. Look for a small, tender depression.

How to use: Apply gentle, steady pressure with your thumb for 1–2 minutes on each side while breathing slowly.

Neiguan - Inner Gate (Acu Point Pericardium 6)

Use for: motion sickness, stress, tension.

How to find it: Measure three finger-widths below the wrist crease, centered between the two tendons on the inner forearm.

How to use: Massage firmly but comfortably for 1–2 minutes on each arm.

Yin Tang - Hall of Impression (Acu Point Extraordinary 1)

Use for: calming the mind, headaches, tension, difficulty relaxing.

How to find it: Located between the eyebrows, at the midpoint above the bridge of the nose.

How to use: Apply light pressure or gentle circular massage for 30–60 seconds.

Helpful Tips

  • Use slow, deep,comfortable breathing

  • Pressure should feel calming, not painful

  • Practice once or twice daily, especially before sleep

These points work together to quiet the nervous system and help energy settle, supporting calm focus and restorative rest. They work best when used consistently and paired with rest and mindful breathing.
